Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the first step?

Simply give us a call or fill the form and a member of our team will begin working with you on your project.

2. Do you charge a fee for the first visit?

No, the first visit and consultation are complimentary.

3. Do you offer financing?

We are excited to be able to offer financing through Synchrony Financial. We offer 2 flexible financing options including 12 months interest free. There are no pre-payment penalties on any of the plans

4. Do I have to move out during construction?

With most kitchen or bathroom remodels, you will be able to live in your home while the project is ongoing. We have remodeled numerous projects with the clients still living in their house. We have worked very hard to develop systems to control dust and maintain tidy job sites. And sometimes, when a kitchen is being remodeled as part of the project, we have set up a temporary kitchen in another part of the house. In addition, we have worked hard to hire, train and keep qualified, respectful personnel who understand that we’re guests in your home.

Larger projects, like whole home remodels, may prevent you from staying in your home during at least part of the time.

5. Should I hire an Architect when considering building a House Addition or a Major Home Improvement or Remodeling Project?

NO. Architects create beautiful designs. Design is fun. “We can do this! We can do that!”, but "Where’s the discussion on budget?". SunnyHouse is Design-build company, who creates immaculate designs and sees them through to completion, offers benefits that a residential architect can’t. Homeowners are typically shocked by the true cost of an architect’s drawings. Many homeowners who start with outside drawings employ us to redo the drawings for their projects.

6. Why would I need an engineer?

While it is still possible to design and build a code-compliant, un-engineered building, most projects have at least some engineering. That’s why we have an engineer on staff who works closely with our designer, estimator and crews to deliver projects that meet code, are economical, and satisfy our clients’ desires.

7. I already have my own architect/designer/engineer. Will you still work with me?

Yes, we would be happy to work with any of the design professionals you have already selected. We can facilitate a design/build approach just as well with outside design professionals.

8. How long will my project take?

The remodeling process doesn't start with demo. It starts the moment you  hire design-build firm and begin designing your project. The planning, design, and permitting stages can take twice as long as construction phase. Our most common projects are typically completed between 5-8 weeks from the date construction begins.

9. How do change orders work?

With our fixed price contract, the only time that there is a change in the scope of work or in the cost is if you initiate a change or if we discover a condition that we had no way of anticipating that requires additional work at extra cost. Change orders often entail additional work time. This duration is clearly noted on the change order and communicated to you prior to undertaking the change. The schedule is then immediately revised to accommodate the changes in the project duration and communicated to you.

10. What Factors Can Affect the Schedule of My Renovation Project?

  • The Size of Your Home and the Scope of the Renovation
  • Weather(Extreme Temperatures, Rain, Sleet, Snow and Hail)
  • Construction Permits and HOA Delays
  • Uncovering unforeseen issues with current structure(Mold and water damage, Cracked foundation, Old- low quality or dangerous construction)
  • Changes in Design
  • Finishes(Homeowners are surprised by the amount of decisions they have to make during the project on finishes like fixtures, faucets, tiles or flooring especially if materials need to be special ordered.)

11. Who is responsible for obtaining permits?

Sunny House will apply and obtain all necessary permits for your project as needed depending on the project and town requirements. Most projects involving changes to the building structure, plumbing, electrical, heating or roofing will require a permit. The processing of a permit through a building department can be intimidating if you are not familiar with the process, but we have doing it for so long that we have learned what is necessary to obtain necessary permits as quickly and as easily as possible.

12. How will I be kept informed about the progress of my project?

We provide you with a daily update. This communication is an essential part of keeping your project on time and on budget. Keeping you informed every day allows you to feel comfortable that progress is being made. We’ll even keep you updated if you’re traveling with emails.

13. Do you provide a service warranty?

We will protect your investment. A home remodeling project can be one of the single most largest investments that most people will ever make, and the last thing that any home owner wants to deal with are costly repairs after the remodeling process is over.

We offer a warranty on our projects

  • 12 Month Workmanship Warranty
  • 24 Month Systems Warranty
