Energy Tax Credits — U.S.
Between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2010, replace your home’s old windows and doors with select energy-efficient windows and doors from SUNNYHOUSE and you may qualify for a tax credit of up to $1,500 on your 2009 and/or 2010 federal income tax return. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 gives homeowners the ability to receive a tax credit of up to 30% of the cost for qualifying energy-efficient upgrades, to a maximum of $1,500.
TO QUALIFY:
- The windows and doors must have a u-value (or u-factor) and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) equal to or less than .30 to qualify.
- The windows and/or doors must be used to improve an existing home. This tax credit does not apply to new homes.
- The windows and doors must be "placed in service" between January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010. "Placed in service" is defined as when the property is ready and available for use.
- The structure must be the taxpayer's primary residence.
- Garage doors must be installed into an insulated garage to qualify.

How to apply:
1. Install
Install our window or door that meets the standards for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 in your principal residence after January 1, 2009, and before December 31, 2010.
2. Keep
Retain your NFRC label from each product along with the sales receipt. Use these when you prepare your taxes. You are not required to provide this documentation to the IRS, but you will be required to present it if audited. Each window has this information for you to review. It also is on a sticker on each unit like the one below.

3. Download
Download the applicable Manufacturer's Certificate PDF following the link below (Adobe Acrobat Reader required), as well as retaining the ENERGY STAR® labels from qualified products.

4. File Taxes
File your taxes and file out the appropriate form. Please check back in 2010 when you are filing your taxes for 2009. The credit applies to the cost of the product only and does not include installation costs
